Gun a Landy?

http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/bathurst/cars-vans-utes/land-rover-series-2a/1012502559#

driveable but not good at stopping apparently.

I'd have it in a flash for the donk and stuff. I should get it, except SWMBO would see...

Went and had a look at the workshop/gun carrier!, its ARN is 172-537, chassis and firewall in good order, rest of body, wiring in not great order, motor runs but needs a fair amount of work, exhaust, tappets etc, it is fairly original, rear tacs, canvas bags are missing, quite a few dodgy brackets welded on rear bar etc. it would make a good resto for someone. it has pintle, tool holders, rear light cups etc.
Chassis number on vehicle matches both plates.

No, I'm not buying it.

Notwithstanding their perceived rarity, their does seem to be quite a few workshops coming onto the market at the moment.

Re: Landrover Series III - ex ADF ceremonial vehicle - Only 57,000km since new

Is 57,000km a lot for a vehicle that has only done parades?

57,000 / 32     (1980 model, so 32 years old)  = 1781km per year.

1781 - 200km for anzac day   = 1581km

(fuel for 1581km - 4 trips to the servo @ 20km return = 80km)  1581 - 80 = 1501km

1501km - 501km (driven to be serviced each month + breakdowns...)  = 1000km

2km for each parade  1000 / 2 = 500 parades each year.

Not sure if this has been posted before:

Hi Aitch,

You'll need to visit REMLR to read up more on that vehicle type. The short version is that they were built, put into storage and then disposed at auction. They were not issued to units.

Cheers,

Pete
