Hello All,
This is a quarry that has remained elusive to me despite my best efforts. It is actually the very vehicle that got me interested in ex-military Land Rovers in the first place.
Over the intervening years I have since found three of them that were located in Western Australia and Victoria. Each one I nearly had in my grasp. However, due to the factor of distance and its associated on-costs, I had to let them very reluctantly slip away. Despite my having the money on hand to buy them outright at each time.
Now I have found one that I probably driven within a couple of kilometres of my elusive quarry last Monday and Tuesday. Alas, my last paid research contract finished in October last year. This means I am out of the game for this one.
The fact that is probably in the best condition out of the last three targets and is reasonably priced is a very cruel pill to swallow. My hope is that someone will buy it and maintain its historical integrity - not turn it into a camper

Anyway, here is the link to a 1963 Series Ambulance
http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/eumundi/cars-vans-utes/1963-land-rover-4x4-other/1099280139I am currently torturing myself by checking each day whether it is still there. So far generous benefactors are in short supply in my neck of the woods. I will just have to concentrate on finishing my PhD so I can become self-employed. Contract research work is just too unreliable - especially when gems like this come along that are soooo close to me ...but remain tantalisingly elusive ... One day ...
A local job was advertised this week that I can apply for however its closing date is on the 25th of July. There is of course no guarantee of my landing it - I will throw my hat into the ring though. Even if I was successful with the job it would be too late for the currently advertised ambulance ... oh well one of these Series Ambulance will come up on the horizon when all the factors align - not just yet apparently

Kind Regards
Lionel
