Were the Gurkha ever stationed in Papua New Guinea?

Brunei and Hong Kong yes but very uncertain about PNG?

One of the battalions of Gurkha Rifles is stationed in Brunei - I'd be interested (and a little surprised) to learn if they ever exercised in PNG

Looking at this listing

http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Land-Rover-110-1989/SSE-AD-2727394/?Cr=2&sdmvc=1

I did not think the firewalls were dipped? Or is that just for these?

G'day Juddy  :)

Yup! all Australian Perenties have a galv chassis, and under rear spare tyre, that looks like a command vehicle would have been fitted with high powered comms set possibly a CO's vehicle or 2IC,could be ex Arty.

nice clean vehicle would be a good buy particularly if the log book comes with it  ;)

cheers

I know that at least one of the 110 that escaped prior to this current disposal program had a replacement gal firewall.  But that was done as an after service/aftermarket exercise.

No galv firewalls as standard.
I still don't know why?!
Imagine that! Gal the door frames and they would never rot!! Just galvanic corrosion to contend with.
Kind Regards, Barefoot Dave.

Yeah! well like a lot of decisions made in Canberra by people with no mechanical knowledge, the Galvanizing of the firewalls would have given extra hours of use before need for rebuild, plus the galvanizing of firewalls was carried out in the 60's with 2/2a with severe warping so that was the no no  with little thought to the fact the firewalls were of totally different pattern. :(
