6x6 Air Defence
«

Most of the 6x6 Air Defence Perenties sold through auction so far have had the second type rear body fitted to these vehicles, which was introduced with the RBS70 missile, and was intended to carry supplies of the missiles themselves.
51-864
is currently in the June Minto Auction (BTW I'm not bidding, knock yourself out!), and is the first AD 6x6 to feature a different body module. It has the "RBS70 Target Acquisition" module, and it differs in many ways to other Air Defence vehicles. I took some pics today, but due to the confined surrounds of the warehouse, I couldn't get any broad side-on pics, so I'll include the side on shots provided by Grays.

I didn't get a pic of the tray on this vehicle due to space constraints, but in common with other Air Defence vehicle, 51-864 has a full length underfloor trundle tray for the Clark Mast and cam poles.
While not as "passenger friendly" as some of the other 6x6s, the Air Defence vehicles have great storage for an extended camping trip.

Great photos, thanks.
This 2nd generation of RBS70 modules this is the 2nd type, the earlier types on the AD page for the Rapier and earlier RBS70 differ somewhat, but the extra detail photos are not only fascinating, but highly informative.
