Hi Anthony,

I don't want to rain on your parade - pardon the pun .

Those rain coats weren't used in the field , you wore them with poly's, service dress, etc.

You need a smock psychological for that era.  I might still have one that your welcome to.

You really are going all the way mate - look forward to seeing it all at Corowa.

Cheers,

Mick

Great effort to recreate that Tony. Well done that man.
I think the beret should be elsewhere, under the epaulette perhaps..

NCOs keep a close eye on berets and tell you they should be worn correctly or not at all.

You will find that those troops are Israeli Infantry and a lot will be conscripts doing their mandatory national service and wear the uniform with the same disdain they have for service.

Intersting fact this beret: the purpel represent the asscoation and can not get purple in Australia, so this a israeli special forces one. Also thanks for the info Carzee where it should be, also on order is a dark blue one correct to RASVY at that time.

Correction.  No Aussie Soldier worth his dogtags would be caught dead wearing a beret
under his epaulets thank you.  Especially a BLACK BERET.

Its just an expression.
Its foggy, but i recall rolling our berets up and pocketing them. It was a rare thing to have wear one.

Except if you had a black beret it was all they gave us tankies to wear, slouch hats were not part of our uniform untill recently, never seen one rolled up and put in the epaulette ;D

Here for you all, I know black beret is RAAC but why would they have given a black beret after transport coures. Dad in the 1980's Army Res 42nd radio operator did his truck driver course and was given a black beret to wear with his the RQR badge. Why would this be.
