G'day Steve,

I just had the exhaust replaced on my '63 SWB 2A  at Daalder - yes Daalder Exhaust in Box Hill. I also replaced the outlet manifold with extractors I purchased on eBay for $280. They work a treat.

When i was getting parts for my series 3 I found that most of the parts were still on the list at the local exhaust place, I think it was berklee here.  Might be worth trying there first.  I'm pretty sure the ambulance exhaust is fairly stnadard, although admittedly i've not looked too closely at mine just yet.

Isn't the military 2a exhaust slightly different to the civvie one ?
4 Wheel Drives have the civvie one's. Not sure if locally made or shipped in from the UK though.

The front mounted exhausts for FFR's etc were certainly different, but I thought the others were normal ones.  I will have to check.

The exhaust system as used on Series 2A 109, is completely different from the civilian unit, the only common item is the engine pipe, and in some cases that is not the case. The military intermediate pipe connects with the engine pipe at the left side of the G/box (on the inside of the chassis rails) and the intermediate pipe goes through the holes in the chassis rails and up over the rear differential, turns at 90deg to the right to pick up the muffler/tailpipe assembly. Usually the muffler tailpipe assembly is common on 88"GS and 109" variants except Wksp, cheers Dennis :)
