map light and dash light fuse access?

Hi all,

When I first got my 110, the dash lights were a little touchy when using the dimmer - either on with full brightness with the dimmer or not on at all. The map light was equally intermittent. Im assuming the fuse is now gone as neither work and it seems as though they share the same fuse but I can't work out how to easily access them - any tricks to it or is it a pain to do?

HI, fuse box is in front of the gear stick on the fire wall, should be two round knobs that unscrew a long screw and the front panel comes off, in side of front panel tells you which fuses are for what

Hi Scott,

Thanks for that but my fault, I should've expanded further - was on my phone. I thought that would be the case too however I took the cover off the fuse box and the sticker-ed legend that shows what fuse is for what function showed that there are two fuses in the side of the box that sits behind the dimmer, convoy lights and transfer box facia in the dash. One of which is what I need to change.

I can see the two fuses on the side of the box (one red and one black)and hoped they simply screwed out but they don't seem to. The option that I look to facing is removal of the dimmer, blackout and transfer box knobs and removing the whole box with the switch assemblies.

I was hoping it would be simpler than that to get to the fuses and am hoping I have overlooked a simple solution from someone that has done the same.

Any suggestions welcomed,

My dimmer switch was touchie to use when I got my Perentie as well.
I found the dimmer switch was stuffed, and by-passed it and installed a hidden on / off switch. Works a treat.

Sorry to hijack the thread but using banana clips could i use the power outlet for a ciggarette lighter type deal?

48354. Take off the four flathead screws around those 2 gauges and you have access behind them including to the back of the dimmer switch. Although i cant remember whether my survey had fuses behind there or not. Sorry

The photos are the fuse box diagram and the two fuses sticking out of the side of the box behind the switches...

I can't see any way to remove the box behind the switches other then removing the switches themselves...surely it can be simpler than that.

Those two 'fuses' are definitely power jacks. But they seem to be in a different position to mine. Can you post a photo of the dash around the area youre trying to access? Havent really seen it before.

on the left and right of the cover 'hidden'  behind the dash should be a Phillips machine screw. Undo and the cover lifts up exposing the wiring for b/o switch, dimmer and centre diff lock actuator.

The trouble light referred to is a small walk around light that connects to the power jacks using the L/Rover two pin plug.
For charging phones you'd be better off laying in a cigarette lighter plug separately maybe even off the same live wire.
That way you've still got the original plugs as well.

The trouble light is a British Lucas part from the 60's. we originally got them with the Series 2 landorvers, but they were also part of the equipment on the 4x4 and 6x6 International trucks, as well as a long list of British military vehicles. The cable is long enough to walk around a Landy, but the Inters had a 2nd outlet plug at the rear of the chassis.

There have been 1 or 2 vehicles through the Grays Auctions that have still had the lamps in the tool lockers, but like getting any tools or accessories, it's all a bit hit and miss what you get.

You shouldn't have an issue running any other accessories off the plugs, as as you found on the fuse panel, the circuit is fused for 15A, which is actually higher than most Cig Lighter circuits (10A). The plugs to fit the sockets used to be a regular Lucas part available through vintage auto electrical suppliers, but I haven't seen any for a while, but I haven't been looking either!
