f2 carby.

F2 6x6 Tipper rear carby often floods under load.  any suggestions on cause or parts appreciated, I have tried adjusting the float but still floods.

If the float level is correct then the most likely cause will be a faulty needle and seat.

I took my carby into REPCO once and managed to match up a complete rebuild kit, the stromberg carbs were common on holden motors. Had all the parts including needle and seat, except for accellerator pump bucket which was too small.

The bucket can be made from a piece of leather and formed to shape when wet between two press-tools,

Although it's reasonably rare one thing to keep in mind when a carby is flooding is the float seam solder. This can fracture or develop a pin hole and fuel can be drawn into the float making it sit low and allow the level to rise. The joint can be tested by holding the float with a pair of plieres and immersing the float in hot water. The air inside will expand and produce bubbles to indicate a fault. If the leak is a big one the fuel will be heard sloshing inside when the float is shaken.

Pat Toole 0419 348336 currently has several NOS Carby rebuild kits for the Mk 5's.
