One shouldn't be too hard to find from a wreck?

That said, I am told that there are alternatives.

A late 300TDi defender one apparently fits.  The part number is BTR4318.   If you can find a NOS one though you would be better off with MTC7651 or STC456.

Thanks Phoenix, yeah you would think i could find something but have trawled the known wreckers of landys here in perth and have a wanted ad up in gumtree but still to no avail never had this much hassle finding something that you would think was easy!I did find one but i thought $600 2nd hand was a tad overpriced but then again that could be just me(only paid 2 grand for the car)cheers John

Gday Diana,no havent looked outside WA yet apart from this parts forum, but will look up TR spares, cant believe ive had so much trouble in looking for something so common, the couple of people wrecking defenders etc have already sold these bits and some that say there wrecking only want to get rid of complete vehicles, but i will find one somewhere and i,ll just have to figure in freight costs, the annoying thing is not having fiddled with late model Landys  or even old ones for quite a few years is that i didnt even really notice it missing,if anything i just assumed it was integrated under the dash like any normal car.thanks john
