Perenties made for Export to other nations
« on: February 22, 2014, 08:46:28 AM »
I was reading that the Peretie was offered as a Military Export called Land Rover 110 Heavy Duty, with a Rover V8 Engine, I take it the V8 was offered as it matches the Gear Box of that used in the Range Rover and the early 110 V8 Pick Ups.

RE the LRPV: don't know about the engine/suspension details, but it is LHD, and featured in a number of company promotional images. It also featured in 3 of the 5 images in the Pat Ware Land Rover book in Section 4: Overseas Manufacturers, sub-section 'Perentie' commencing on page 192, though it is not identified as anything different and leaves the reader with the impression it is an Aust Army vehicle.

LRPV 50501 is also featured: has that popped up in disposals yet?

The LRPV in Bandiana, I actually saw and photographed on the Land Rover Military Sales stand at a British Army Equipment Exhibition in Aldershot, must have been late 1990's. It later went to a museum in England before returning to Australia. The was also a GS 6x6 there and that was kept by Land Rover before selling off. By coincidence it was later owned by a guy who had a business on my cousin's farm. The sales brochure had the Isuzu engine and the Rover V8 as options along with left or right hand drive.

Richard, any chances of getting some chassis and engine numbers from that other vehicle?

The Perentie vehicle were offered overseas to a number of countries.  A number were sold to oman (10 or 12 I believe, I have to check).  I believe it was also offered to Canada and Singapore specifically among others.

I will try to, but not for a while as I have lost contact with him.
