Hi guys, a bit  unsure of where to post but here goes anyway,i have just bought the ex NZ Singapore 109" FFW/FFR that was on gumtree Perth back in Dec 2013 in Mandurah,looked really shabby but is really quite solid.i worked on 4 of these back in 1998 to get them on the road for a Perth dealer and also built 1 for myself,i think that this may be one of them as i recognise a few repairs as being similar to those that i carried out on some of them before,this is what drew me to this 1 as i have not seen any others since 98.They all had reas low mileages 70 to 100,000 miles for a mid sixties car anyway and drove exceptionally well for a s11a,This particular one is showing 70 odd thousand miles so i took a chance,the motor was seized but freed with bit of oil down the bore and a short tow and was running the same day albeit on 2 cyls,head off showed a blown 2 to 3 head gasket but really good bores.cleaned up and back together running sweet,yet to try g/box etc as no hydraulics working but should be sorted by tomorow.Last rego sticker was 1998 so i dont think she was on the road long before head gasket went.ch no and engine no indicate a 66 model ,will not be using the 24 v setup as cables etc really scruffy

Welcome aboard John,   I got a 1960 Series 2 FFW here in Qld.
The engine and chassis numbers will tell you what it is once you get that far.

Hi thanks Greg and Geoff,i will post some photos up shortly as i get my son to do that(i havent mastered it yet)Looks like NZ landys dont have census plates or nomenclature info other than standard land rover stuff so not as interesting to read as Aussie mil vehicles ,is there a site to post chassis no,s etc in ? John

Post it up here.  We should be able to make something out of it regarding model and year.

Chassis No. might be either rear left chassis rail near the spring mounting OR
front right chassis rail both on the outside.

Chassis number rhf spring hanger 25316955c engine number 25251175 .I wont be using 24v alt,starter,dissy etc all gone back to standard 12v stuff ease of parts and my experience with 24v gear is its expensive to repair(my thoughts only)John

Hi John I had one of these a few years ago and met the guy who imported them. He lived in Forrestfield at the time. There were 28 of them brought to Perth.

Hi guys,yeah i reckon i could wash the dust off and rego it tomorrow,have cleaned and stripped guards /doors bumper etc off and have cleaned and painted chassis /springs diff housings etc,repainted in Protec camo green(yeah i know its not correct for yr/NZ) but will prob end up bronze green i think it is but in a flat finish as i am not after showroom finish just clean and tidy with some warts and all small dings and dents so a flat finish will suit,John

Welcome to REMLR John, got some work in front of you for sure.
The photos are good. Things that caught my eye: the oil cooler, something attached to the windscreen wiper mtr, the grille without finger access cut out ( I have one of those too), the aussie brackets on the tops of the guards, and the headlight dip switch in a recess (it looks like).

Hi Carzee,jeez youve got good eyes,yeah blanked off bonnet catch,i think that may be some sort of voltage reducer from 24v on wiper(didnt even register there was something on there till you mentioned it),the dip switch is recessed but only coz somone stuck/screwed 1/2" rubber mat all over floors and firewall(prob good sound deadener but looks like crap) was even over ch no plate etc,which in turn was under 3 coats of orig green and where someone at some stage scraped the paint off to see number and scratched the paint on the plate as well (i wonder if is the same peanut that cut the headlights in to the guards) and the brackets etc look the same as AUSSIE ones.john

Definately a heavy duty oil cooler fitted,and B52 John Hiemstra Midland 4wd center(died 4or5 yrs ago) is who i dealt with. thats where i saw at least 1 but there may have been 2 R series Bedford 4x4 they looked in real nice cond ,he said a"collector" had already snapped them up) have never seen or heard of them since, anyone got any clues to where they went?John
