GS Front door seals
« on: February 08, 2014, 10:04:35 PM »
Hi Everyone, was just out in some light rain and noticed that both door linkages let in some water/rain. Nothing really bad but enough to warrant possible replacement in the near future. After a search through the RPS and Google, I have hopefully found suitable replacements. The part numbers were: CFE102990-A for L/Hand front seal and CFE102981-A for the R/Hand seal. My question would be, does anyone know if these are correct superseded part numbers and I'm right to order them or is there other part numbers to order and who from? These ones are at LRA in Richmond Vic.

Thanks in Advance.
Aaron

with Land Rover door seels that are a bit 'weak' but not torn, you can get some of that clear plastic tube, about half inch diameter or so, and slide it up inside the existing seal.  This will give the old seal a new lease of life.

The softer/most supple the pipe the better

hope this helps

I replaced the door seals on mine, The Genuine ones are far superior to any of the after market ones, I have tried them all, As we sell the cheaper seals too, I am so glad I did not go the cheap sake route, the Genuine seals are thicker than the non genuine ones, mine came with new seals from the Army, useless and in the bin they went.

Cost RRP is nearly $200 per side for a Genuine seal, the cheap ones are around $80 per side. You get what pay for...

Interesting idea Richard, never even thought of that. And I just happen to have some handy, will have to give it a go seeing that the seals aren't ripped or torn. In daylight though, I noticed that there is a couple of the holes in the seals facing out of the edge of the door, so that may be contributing to the leak as well. The clear tube might also block them up.

Cheers,
Aaron

There are a few people who have removed the lip from the body where the seals mount and then used the pinch weld seal used on the Defenders.

No it's not original and may devalue the vehicle to the purist, but it does create a better seal.

In regards to the plastic tube, you may be better off using the round sponge seal from places like Clark Rubber.
