I don't think this has been posted before and it includes some interesting vehicle, armoured vehicle & aircraft footage probably from the Buffalo series

Never presume, i've not seen the footage before, although others may have.

Wonderful video :). Never seen it before.

The clearest video I have seen on the Maralinga atomic tests. Identification of vehicles and machinery is possible due to the high resolution. Most, if not all of this material would still be buried out Maralinga way. I have seen 'grainy' photos of the 'radioactive' Supermarine Swift aircraft being pushed into a large hole. Something for archaeologists to dig up in 10,000 year time.

Just found that photo :)

Another photo showing three of the RAF Swifts after an atomic test. Of interest is the object located behind the Centurion. I think it may be a towable fuel tank.

I'm intrigued by the object in the distance (above the Centurion rear end). It appears to be an aircraft....but what type? Meteor maybe?

If you enlarge the pic, I think you can see that the aircraft image is distorted by heat haze, I think you maybe correct in that it may be a Meteor (perhaps a 2 seat mk 11 (eleven), which the RAAF & DoS had for test purposes but I do not know at what dates), I wonder if it would be difficult to find records records of what was actually placed there.

Hi Gents,

The two articles mentioned are both illegal, copyright infringing 'lifts' of my article 'Atomic Tank - The History of 169041' - the Australian Centurion that is now a gate guard at 1 Armoured. It was running several years ago, but has since been pensioned off and left outside in the weather.

The image Tommy put up of the Centurion is not 169041, but a British Army Centurion tank from a later test. (Maralinga). It is fitted with a Mono wheel fuel trailer, which were made by Sankey. Very unpopular item of kit, later replaced by the additional armoured fuel tank attached to the rear.

Mike

Wings and tail plane are too straight for a phantom :)
