Markings on Ambo's

borrowing an idea from FFRman re markings on workshops, I thought there should be one for Ambo's

I will kick it off with this, I reckon this is one of the most appt names for an in service LR, it is a s2.
copyright belongs to me, dont mind it been used elsewhere as long as this and REMLR are credited.

Great looking ambo Chief.

Bamford winch (without cable) is unusual. Two toned camo as well.

What do you think '83' is for? What about the storage box above windscreen? Could this be a converted ambo?

         Is that a battery box behind the door and reused for a radio/spook van?

  Similar to the white one I saw and photographed a few years ago,was converted to electrical/mechanical repairs with A/c in the front but without that dust shield,It still resides in Qld and was possibly for sale,minus motor now, the owner is a Melbourne resident which still owns his W/shop truck.

Hello All,
Yes this is one of the officially converted ERV ambos (Electronic repair vehicle). so the pic would be very late in service,The ARN is 108-103, It has lots of unique fittings, also look at the exhaust under the L/H guard. The 83 would just be a callsign the vehicle belongs to a tech support squadron.

Has RAEME Tac sign colours (pity we can't read the numbers) and the fact that they belong to a Tech Support unit would explain why both names begin with the letter "T".
I wouldn't be at all surprised if they are attached to an Armoured Unit as the Tankie's tend to name their vehicles with a name that begins with the letter the same as that of the Squadron to which they belong.
The 108 prefix on the ARN tells a story as well as far as its specialised adaptation.

Base coat olive drab. What would the other colour of this camouflage scheme be? Tan maybe?

Yup! I would think it was tan,(mid or light earth)
