Today was blacking the Chassis, a little tricky with my Laft hand (right wrist is broken) but I got there.  That auto enamel realllllly smells.

Unless it had one on it, I doubt it will acquire one.
I have a regular pintle, but bolting $200 on the back of this truck seems silly to say the least.  I never tow anyways.

Twas the day before ANZAC Day...

Managed to get the bulkhead painted (left handed again),


and rhs

Just stripping the original speedo and building a new 1408 Turns per minute one as some IDIOT twisted it back to zero and stuffed the hairspring in the original. A few hours work.  The drag cup is dragging (which makes the speedo flick) hopefully I can rectify this without a total strip to screws and springs. It's not hard to do but you need two good steady hands and at the moment I just have ONE good left hand.

Within the trip speedo was a cracked gear so removing it allows the odo to turn over. 

No one will see the trip meter as the old speedo face covers it up.


The finished product.  4 hours work. Face scrubbed with soap and a super soft paintbrush, and the needle sprayed matte white, internals painted matte white again, and the needle stop replaced.

Time for an update.

Been busy and I dragged the donor Series 2A engine from th eshed arounf the front.  It has a dodgy alternator bracket which I wasnt happy with.  More about that later, but I had to pressure wash it and wire brush 47 years of crud off it.
  This looks like a dogs you know what, but a little bit of Ford Gray (sic) and its good enough to go in...

I painted it all Carefully I might add.
Sometimes they go in easy but this was hard as my wrist is getting better, and one handed engine installatons are a pain.!!!

I put in a new slave cylinder and line.  The setup on a series 2 is wayyyyy harder than a series 2a. but its in now.

Happy Dayz, its in and no, it IS the wine that has affected the sharpness of this picture

Seen one engine in, seen a dozen..  Ahh well one step closer to finished.

OK so I had a crap alternator bracket.  I wanted a decent one as we all know that generators take ages to charge the battery and if you want to run anything other than the basic electrics its a pendinng failure of the regulator.  So I chopped the old dodgy brackets off and made my own, 4 hours later we sort of had the bracket tacked on to the old bracket, but I wasnt sure on which pulley that it ran off so over to look at 112-464's set up and it was determined that the rear pulley was the one!!
In years gone by you used a plumb bob and a string to line things up, but I chose a laser.  WOW how accurate. To 0.5 mm and as you can see this is perfect.  Welded up all the brackets PROPERLY and now I have a good 60A alternator installed. Note that the laser is not 100% straight as holding it and taking a picture takes more skill than bomb disposal..

Well small steps makes large jumps.  I painted two dozen bolts  after stripping them and sandblasting. Not easy task.  The washers always blow away at 100psi on the blaster.
And painted up the pulleys 
Installed they look pretty good. Yes Dennis I KNOW that water pump will leak, but its a mock up until I sort the engine out.

Installed the pedal boxes as well

I also got the dash welded up and ground back to good after it was cracked.  This is a hard to get one, so it was worth saving. I have about five dashes but none like this, one so it was a save job.

Ian,I use aluminium fly wire when sandblasting nuts,bolts and screws.Make a suitable sized hole(just smaller than the item/s) and screw them in.This prevents pieces flying away at 100psi.Once sandblasted I leave the items in the fly wire for painting.Hope this can be of some use.Cheers Hallsy.
