suspension lift
« on: January 31, 2014, 10:42:47 AM »
hi,

just wondering if anyone knew how much i can legally lift my perentie 110? took it to the suspension shop and the guy said that he didn't think I could legally lift it anymore because it was already 2 inches higher than a civilian 110? any advice is appreciated.
thanks.

It is entirely different to a civilian 110, hence the height it is now is the standard height. It shares a name only...

You could fit 255 85 16s on D1 rims which makes it high enough for just about anything  :)

Mechanically the 110 Perentie and civilian 110 (not defender) are fairly identical.  certainly until you get to the change in the rear chassis I thought they were much the same.

That said, the lift put in the Australian ones was because of the clearance under the diesel motor.  So they are taller than their UK bretheren 110's

A few years ago I used to drive a civilian Isuzu powered 110 on hard bush trips - the thing that stopped it most often was the rear diff.  A suspension lift will not sort that problem, but larger diameter tyres will help (as previously suggested).  I recommend trying it out and seeing what/if the problems are before making sometimes expensive and maybe unnecessary changes to the basic vehicle, which by itself is very bush capable
