You don't need the code as Protec Paints sell it already mixed in the right colour.  Do search and you will find lots of information.

The information in this pic is what you will need to get your local paint supplier to order from Protec.

The colour has a Federal Standard colour code which is FS 34088. You can quote this number to an automotive paint supplier and they will give you a blank look, but if they look it up it up  the will be able to find the formular for it. Good if you want to use 2 pak. I used LIC43 (flat polyurethane) which is a Valspar product to paint my 2a. I gave the Federal Standard code to the supplier to the supplier and got the blank look as well as the question "what year is your federal" so I gave the blank look back and stated " year model, Its a colour standard lile the Australian Standard" I still got the blank look. Luckily  one of the other salespersons new exactly what I wanted so they looked it up on their computer and found it was an ADF colour called Camoflage Green.

And how are things going with the Series vehicle, Captain Meticulous?
I reckon it is about time you put up a photographic teaser or two for all to see, for two reasons:
1. People will know why I call you "Captain Meticulous."
2. So more people may take heed when you quietly point them in the right direction!

Its back in your court now Rod.
I apologise for the minor hijack!
Regards
Glen

Hi John,

Yeah sounds about right...

What I have found is the nozzles off Rust Kill cans work much better, but the cans need to be warmed up (in winter I sit them in front of the fire for a few hours, in summer sit them in the hot sun for a couple of hours) then shake them on and off for half an hour....... then they seem to work, sort of!

Scott

Thanks Scott.Tried to do a few small bits this morning(a nice warm day)and it was as you described. After much frustration I gave up and after some computer time out I went on to AURLO and came across a thread re paints that confirmed that there is an issue with the batch that myself and many other have(EXP OCT 14) is faulty and causing the spatter issue.Hopefully PROTEC have this issue under control for my and many others sanity.

Yeah I read that one later this arvo too. I might take my didgy ones back and see if they'll swap them over.....given that I've had problems in the past with different expiry dated cans, it's not the best paint to use in cans

Scott

G'day everyone,
I took FFRMAN 's advice , warmed up the can and changed the nozzle, and gave the can a really good shake and it worked fairly well. Reckon I got 90% out before it really started to cough and splutter.

Cheers,

Mick

I am not sure if I commented on this before, but I too had issues with a batch of cam green cans. That exp date rings a bell also!

Anyway warming them up makes a big difference. I was spraying in winter. This time of year should be much better. Even the brown and black spray cans from protec splatter if not at the correct temp.

I took my faulty cans back to Protec in Adelaide and they replaced 4 cans(amount I bought) without any issues. The new cans have an exp of 15/03/15.Did some small bits and pieces as a test run and am happy with the results,a short time shaking can and spraying without spatter or the nozzle blocking up.I hope all with issues with their cans have a positive outcome with Protec.
