Bonnet Brackets

Can anyone advise the purpose of the (kinda) triangular shaped brackets on each side of the bonnnet nearest the windscreen please ?

Are you talking about the brackets that support the windscreen when folded down so the glass doesn't break on the tool brackets?

If they are the right angled brackets, that have that have the large nut & bolt thru them, which bolts the bottom of the windscreen to the bulkhead(series 2) they are for mirror arms?(overtaking/wing mirrors)
 i have also seen them used to attach a mesh stone guard for the windscreen as well!
