We did it on a 110 at the SME museum about 3 years ago. If you look at the CAV alternator, you can see it is held on with 2 X 30mm metal bands, these can come off the alternator while its stil insitu and make the job a little less impossible.
It is probably also easier if you remove the 12V alternator so you can get at the 28V one, disconnecting the 12V battery first.
If it has the 24V batteries fitted, first remove the negative lead in the drivers side battery box, then negative lead in the passengers side box and then the postive lead in the passengers side box.
Then undo the multipin cable from the Alternator, by unscrewing the collar.
Release the V belt off the alternator.
Now it starts getting hard, the bands on the alternator are clamped onto it by 4 IIRC 8mm bolts, 2 on each band, loosten off the bolts and preferably remove them.
It may be easier to support the alternator with a ratchet strap or 2, between the bands The bands are held onto the engine by 2 long IIRC 12mm bolts, undo the nuts, withdraw the bolt so that you can rotate the other band and slide it off, and then slide the other band off the other end.
Then you can manipulate the alternator out.
Its a pig of a job that took about 4 hours.
