Some thoughts to think on;.
Chassis number could start with 9431.....
Yellow body could be a Telecom (Telstra) vehicle
The ZT number. Is that the rego plate number.
Could be a Commonwealth Govt Rego number.

If it is 1975 build it would be a series 3 would it not?
The rego no isn't the usual three letter three number combination though.
Could we maybe have some pictures of this vehicle please.

1975 is unlikely to be an Army, but still possible.

The Army style brushguards were called PMC brushguards and also sold into the civilian market, but originally likely designed for the Army.  They were fitted to vehicles for many NSW and Commonwealth Government departments commencing in SIIa.  Bobslandies had an ex-mines dept 1965 station wagon that came with one.

The yellow colour could be the telstra gold as mentioned, although if a canary yellow colour the most likely candidate is DCA (Department of Civil Aviation) who used them to maintain navigational aids in remote locations.  They were usually well looked after in DCA service.

Yeah John,  the ZT number plate would be Commonwealth Govt for sure.
Telecom is a more Gold coloured yellow so the DCA parentage would make it yellow.

If you look at the chassis numbers on the REMLR website 1975 Series 3 Army have got slim
pickings.  Series 3 were just coming in.

In Fyshwick, Canberra, at the site (nowadays) of Bunnings and Domayne, was the old Dept of Minerals/Geology/Mines Q stores or something and I remember the rows of yellow Landys stored there. The colour was not the Camino Gold Leyland colour, it was a proper yellow, not soft yellow and not rubber ducky yellow.

Yeah John,  the ZT number plate would be Commonwealth Govt for sure.

Why would they be Commonwealth as Commonwealth plates certainly started with a Z but Commonwealth number plate had three letters starting with a Z and had three numbers so would have the format ZNA-578.  ZT is more likely to have been a personalized plate not Commonwealth.

Yellow is a good clue here.  Me, I have no idea, but I was sent some information that will help  ;)

the Bureau of Mineralogy is the likely original owner.  They had some series 3 vehicles that were used on geological surveys that were fitted with some "military" parts.  They had a numeber of 109 and 88in vehicles.  I might have some photos soon.  They were yellow with a white roof fitted with a brish bar, gardening tool brackets and some other bits.

Apparently there were quite a few in Darwin during the seventies and eighties.  If you look around the corner of each of the windows in the hard top there may be four 6 or 8mm holes that were used for mounting security screens over each window.

Ah yes, mines were also yellow, but both DCA and Mines had yellow and white roof, as did the forrestry dept fire vehicles without the white roof.

If a vehicle was used in the Northern Territory, you often find that the window rubbers were turned inside out, so that the key rubber was on the inside.  Criminalised groups had learnt that if you pull the key out you can remove the window without making the smashing sound when you break the glass.
