178 058 is currently undergoing a re birth.I purchased her in July this year,in SA.Since getting her home pressure cleaning,scratching my head as to what have I done,stripping things down,finding things such as wrong size tyres/canvas etc.Shes currently in my shed,almost naked awaiting my purchase this week of sand blasting equip etc at the Paskeville Field days SA.Once I have the chassis repainted(no rust problems found apart from surface rust on doors and a small bit on bonnet),the rebuild will begin.I thank all who have posted their experiences about your rebuilds etc as this has helped me make decisions as to how to go about my project.Photos etc will come as soon as my teenage son visits to see what Im doing to his inheritance.

Yes Mick Marsh it is.Re Juvinating is probably the wording I should have used.I pretty well have a good history of this vehicle, as some of the guys I served with ,worked out of her whilst posted to 16AD WKSPS.I should have 100% comfimation very soon,if others(like myself)can find the few photos we could take whilst in service.At the moment I am doing what I can to get her back on the road to a condition that I would feel comfortable to travel any where without problems.Photos will happen when my teenager gets here to show me how

..and spending the inheritance? Well, I know you're joking, but seriously, having something DOD (dear old dad) made, and made together (and made to last) used to constitute an heirloom. I do know a LR expert in the mid-1990's who had a slow wasting disease but in the final years made a "gal Landy" for his only child (daughter). I wonder where it is now. Everything was gal, even the rims.

Anyway, any pix yet?

Plenty of work been happening, and lots of photos taken.Photos should be up soon,as the lads car rego and insurance are due soon(I dont pay if he dont play).The chassis is 3/4 sandlasted.Awaiting swapping over some tyres etc to be able to move vehicle to a suitable position to remove engine and bulkhead(currently on blocks in the shed with insufficient room to complete these tasks) The old caravan is filling with bits and pieces that have been blasted/cleaned, primed and painted.With Protec swapping over the faulty paint cans I have been able to fix up some of the bits that I wasnt happy with.I hate doing things twice when you shouldnt have to.Now that the weather is a bit more user friendly I hope to finish blasting and painting 2xrims, the bumper and weld up a few fractured welds on the lower doors over the next few days.Ive also purchased a 4/71 wksp trailer to accompany the wide eyed old girl.More to follow with pics.
