We should do a perentie trip to Genowlan Point or the tramway track.  We can't get up Mt Airly as its gated.

We could camp in Capertee NP maybe when it warms up the causeway was frozen over this morning

The Mt Airlie gates are opened when Col deems weather conditions permit I thought? Either way, it is on my list to go back there.

I'm a bit jealous I didn't get to go on the club trip this weekend, work is a curse...Thanks for the photos Rosco!

Perentie Weekend at the Wollemi national park Newnes, with the Sydney Landrover Club ..

More photos, the Slideshow ..

http://s871.photobucket.com/user/Rosco99/slideshow/Landrover%20-%20Perentie/Landrover%20Club%20of%20Sydney%20-%20Perentie%20weekend

Wow, great slideshow, love that Lost City and the Perentie pics. Envious. Were there any Series ex-mils?

Seems Perth and Sydney and Canberra are more active than... Melbourne? Adelaide? Brisvegas? Or is it that the photos aren't being put up?

Col's property is called Mt Airlie.  The track beyond it goes to Genowlan Point and to the diamond mine.  The real Mt Airly is closer to Capertee off the Airly Gap Trail.

Ah, right. That gate. Been past it a few times. I always thought the diamond mines and camping area were Mt Airlie and Genowlan Point was the far end of the track beyond Jurassic Park, The Grotto and that stupid bloody cliff face that I scraped my County's roof bars against. Glad to be corrected!

Thanks .. no just the Perenties  8)

Was a good sort out trip for me .. plenty on my 'to do' list now :
1. get the 24v electrics working for the fridge .. fitted plugs and had the unit in but not enough juice. Would like to cut it down to just 2 batteries on one side
2. get power in the front for my Nav unit, thought I could use my phone .. ha .. FAIL    Does anyone know where you can get the 'banana looking' plugs for the socket in the dash ??
Update : ordered a pack of 5 Lucas CAB185 Two Pin Plug 82127 from the UK
3. UHF aerial .. I was using a older CB aerial quite successfully until it was pointed out on the weekend that it would fry my UHF unit  :o
Update : new aerial has arrived and fitting it today
4. Sleeping bag didn't do the job, Buster the dachshund and I spent a COLD night shivering away at times
5. I use a portable CPAP machine with a small battery pack, wasn't real good pumping -2c air at pressure up my nose  :o   I have a heater unit but need to sort more power out for it ..see 1
Update : research concludes that I need to go to 230v so ordered a 'pure sine' inverter 24v-240v from China, maybe I will keep the 4 batteries
6. Need a GS Tailgate as a table, and to keep gear in ... Roger showed that I can easily fit a tailgate to my unit.  Tried tracking one down before but the one referred to me had already been sold.
Update : Brad from KLR called .. has one and will fit later this month  :) :)
7. Get some music happening up front .. 3hrs each way and I was looking for something .. have a caddy for the centre, a 24v Truck CD unit and marine speakers to fit on the ROP, just need some time

Had some new tyres and wheels fitted.

Been thinking about this for a while,  so I took the plunge.

Bridgestone D674 Mud Terrains.  265/75R16's on 16*8 steel rims with a 6mm positive offset.

Looks and feels much better and the spare fits underneath no problems.

I have attached some photos of before and after,  the new tyres nicely fill out the flares with no rubbing.

Looking at a couple of jobs to do on my Pernetie with one of them being a more secure option of mounting the gardening tools on the bonnet. Has anyone come up with a more secure set up than the wing nuts? Also just wondering about fitting a couple of USBcharging points on the dash. I have what I think is a power point coming out from behind the fuse box on the left hand side of the dash. It is a red and black 2 pin socket. Is this 12 volt and what type of connector fits this? Has anyone converted this point to a cigarette lighter or USB socket?
Appreciate any ideas and theories so I can get something done on my Perentie today too!
Regards Warrick.

Regarding the red n black "Inspection Light" socket: its very handy -it is a constant 12v, its is not dependent on the ignition switch and in fact it cannot be turned off unless you fit a battery kill switch or disconnect the battery lead.

I took the wires off the back of those plugs and extended them, soldering on "extra" wire.

My "extra" wires were poked thru an existing wiring loom hole in the firewall and out into the engine bay. From that point the wires went down to the chassis rail near the hydraulic pipes on the driver side of the firewall, then rearwards along the chassis rail, then across the rear of the seatbox-to-rear-tub panels joint (over to the front passenger side), then up inside the cabin thru a seat belt bolt hole that has a captive nut. Not one hole was drilled in the body.

For its whole length the "extra" wires are inside some rubber hose, I think its called vacuum line.

Once inside the cabin I used the power for a centre cubby box. The box had a fused/soldered USB/cig lighter power point, and rear tub LED light set up on the back of the ROPS top bar.

Thanks Carzee. Appreciate the detailed description of how you set up your cubby box for power. Do you know what the connection looks like to plug into the inspection light socket. Obviously 2 pins but does it have a name? Maybe I can purchase the connector and solder the connection pins onto a USB or cigarette lighter socket via a short bit of electrical wire to make up my own adapter?
Regards Warrick.

They are the old Lucas pins, goes back to the 50s. The male pin is expensive, semi rare.

There is a asian repro part: https://www.vintagecarparts.co.uk/products/960-dashboard-socket-and-plugs-equal-pins

and from a forum...
quote "The part numbers for the proper 2 Pin plug to fit the Inspection Socket are -

LUCAS - CAB185 (NSN 6MT3/5935-99-803-1823)"
