Australian Army OKA Trials video
« on: July 03, 2014, 07:16:09 PM »
I just found this video made to introduce the OKA during the period of its evaluation by the Army. They mustn't have liked it, but it makes for good watching anyway.

I have pics of a RAAF convoy  - mobile comms convoy - they definitely had a few OKAs.

Was two in our compound for a while in Enoggera.

The Army and RAAF did have a few each, not big numbers but certainly some.  Wonder if there are more videos from that series about the place.

ARNs 95-0442 & 95-0443 spotted.

Pete
These are not strictly ARNs, but they are Rego numbers issued by the Army. The are the series of numbers issued for "C Line", or commercial vehicles. The plates indicate the vehicles were registered in 1995 and were the 442nd and 443rd vehicles registered in that year. These plates have appeared on vehicles as varied as Isuzu NPR trucks through to 6x4 box trailers.

Nope, sorry.... They are exactly Army Registration Numbers.  If you look close enough you might even see Army written on the plate.

I have an ex RAAF Comms Van which had the ARN 234637  based at RAAF Richmond.
We turned it into a Camper/motorhome a few years ago.

Keep your eye on gumtree and ebay as they come up now and then. We've turned our Ex RAAF comms van into a full camper with slideout bed and all the mod cons.
If you are handy and can do work yourself you can pick up one relatively cheap and fix stuff up. Some come on the market after being privately owned since new but most have been used commercially and need TLC to bring them back to a decent standard.
Ours only had 70k on it when we bought it so they are around.  Most are in the sub $30k region if the need work and clunkers that need a full rebuild in body and mechanicals can be much cheaper.
As they have a rigid chassis and are of unitary construction bodywise it is pretty simple to remove any existing body past the cab and build your own from there back.
