front RHS tac holder SIIa - why standing off guard?
« on: August 27, 2013, 06:13:08 PM »
Have a question about the RHS tac plate holder on the front of the cut guard SIIa.

Why is it mounted on a bracket standing off the front of the guard when the LHS holder is mounted flush on the guard?

Hello Diana,

So you can change the tac plate, otherwise it wouldn't clear the BO light.

Heres me thinking it was to allow the light to hit the road below the bumper.

Now I just feel stoopid!  :-[

I used it to demonstrate Protec Camouflage Green, as compared to the green on the Perenties coming out of the Defence disposals and then thought about the bracket.

I think you will find that it was to allow the tac sign to not be illuminated when travelling on reduced lighting,so that unfriendly forces could not ID the unit. ;)
