« on: July 11, 2013, 09:47:33 PM »
Hi people will post up some images and later some measurements.

The images are of 112-512 the buggy at the Army Museum of Military Engineering, Moorebank NSW.  The vehicle itself was also photographed in SVN with 5RAR Infantry tac.

The first two images show the different style of the ends.

6 elements - back and bottom - glass channel - front - front bracket - 2 end pieces (internal)

6 elements - glass chanel and back - bottom and rear lip - front - front bracket - 2 end pieces (external)

rear of second type showing weld line of bottom piece and lip.  Note top appears rounded for integral glass retainer chanel (rear and bottom) front is the back side of front piece.

Note intermittant welding of glass channel to front piece.

Front bracket - note top of slot equal to bottom of front piece.

an image with some measurements.

Notes
1. The 38.59mm measurement is overall, including the front piece.

2. Making the bottom, back and "L" shaped glass channel in a single piece would prevent welding the channel to the front piece for 200mm at each end.

3. On type 1 with the internal ends, the back piece is 550mm the same as the front.  On type 2 with external end caps the back piece is 545mm (including the 2 x 2.68mm end caps) the 2.5mm at each end allows a 2.5mm welding lip.

4. I believe type 1 has the "L" glass channel cut short with the back/bottom piece overlapping (see buggy screen1 attached) and the two welded together from the front after the chanel is welded onto the front piece.

5. IMHO type 1 would be easier to manufacture as the bends are right angles with a second slight bend at 10mm up fron the bottom corner.   Type 2 has a very acute bend between the back and glass channel.

6. The gap for the glass will depend on the available glass and will need to be confirmed prior to manufacture.
