6x6 crew cabs
« on: April 03, 2014, 06:46:17 AM »
Hi all, anyone have any idea on how common 6x6 crewcabs are?
As in two forward facing rows of seats, 5 seaters with a tray...

Wonder what the mix of body types is overall in 6x6...

Thanks....

I think every single one is flat bed rear body work, with modular drop in units used for specific mission roles.

VERY rare, maybe 20 built total!  I think they were built for use the the parakeet communications suite for the most part, although I do have photos of one in timor being used as a flat tray.

I think that a 6x6 is nowhere near as fun and easy to manoeuvre as an RFSV, you could find that after driving a 4x4 version (even a barge arsed RFSV one) that the extra size of the dual cab is not fun at all.

The RFSV ride is so much more compliant even with the helper springs, whereas the I find that the 6x6 ride is very flat through corners and fairly bumpy along any sort of rough terrain, although I haven’t ever been in a 6x6 that is heavily loaded (yet).. They may tend to smooth out a bit with a fair bit of weight in them?

I would have to say that a 6x6 rides much better anyday than a 4x4 in the rough stuff. I have had both and find the 6by much more stable and smooth in corrugations and eneven ground.
