Firstly, many thanks for all the kind messages I have received in response to my recent purchase of Castrol - the sentiments are very much appreciated !
I am now looking to replace Castrol's old tyres and would be very grateful for any advice on what typewould be most suitable ??
Whilst I have read a number of blogs both on here and the LR club site, I am still confused as to the pros and cons of the different types and sizes of tyres available, as most posts related to ones best suited for activities that this vehicle is unlikely to ever be used for ?
In brief, Catrol will be driven on road 80% of the time - and off road in the mountains only 20% ( mostly dirt tracks, but a few rough trails too ) and hence everyday ride quality, performance, steering, noise and durability are high on the wish list - as well as the capability to handle some occasional off road use, too.
Ideally, I would also like the tyres to be as close as possible in keeping with the look of the military originals, for obvious reasons.
For your info, Castol is currently fitted with 5.5 x 16 rims, stamped 'Australia', code No. 272309.
