No 5 Fire Trailer
« on: October 31, 2012, 07:00:56 AM »
Hi there all

I have had this for a while but posting to the trailer section.

I dont know enough about these sorts of trailers, but what I can tell your this one originally came from Northern Territory and used as fire trailers with a defence contractor.  All the numbers on the trailer points it could have been a civillian built (see the ID numbers).

It built like a sherman tank and carrys alot of water, I was initally told these were foam tanker trailers for the IIa fire engines but limited information to validate..........if any one know please let me know.

Either way it looks the part being towed by the IIA..............

Enjoy the pictures.

NOTE: above the wheel arch behind the red paint it says "Army Fire Service"

All the best

Wayne

G'day Wayne  :)

I would suggest that it is a modified No 5 that was used to replace the 80 gallon water tank trailers built on the No 5 chassis,as I am aware that there were various unit mods to No 5's (not fully recorded)I have a No 5 with a tailgate,(looks to be cut out with a 9"angle grinder with 2 primative catches) but at least the overpainted markings show it's origins.
