So the seal I took out was a double one but was missing the felt seal, it had a lot of black sealant in there though. The one I bought was a single but have fitted the felt seal and followed suit with some ultra black under the washer. It didn't leak when I filled it up so here's hoping.

Hi Garry

Just wondering if the seal change was a success, the reason I ask is I recently changed mine out it didn't leak when filled & stationary but it started a minor leak within a 20km test drive so now am looking at finding a speedi sleeve to fit even though the seal face on the flange was OK, am hoping a little more tension on the seal lip will help

If your flange face is good I would just tighten the spring inside the seal instead of sleeving the flange. And double check your transfer case breather.

You can get seals that have a little more meat on the seal face that are exactly designed to do this.  I am not sure how they are identified but they are the same size seal that you order but have a designation for the extra meat and very slightly smaller diameter of the sealing rubber in the seal.

Any industrial supply place should be able to help out if you have the original seal.

But in my experience you are flogging a dead horse as sooner or later, no matter what you do the leak comes back.

Good luck - I would love for you to back to the forum in a little while and show my pessimism is unfounded and that your efforts have proven successful.

Cheers
