QLD Transport
« on: May 29, 2012, 01:03:09 PM »
OK now that I have your interest, I have a question for the Queenslanders here. I have a Series IIA that has been re powered with a 186 Holden it is all inspected, certified, mod-plated etc. I want to return it to standard Land Rover 2.25. My biggest headache is going to be QLD Transport (the local office has quite a reputation for being "Hard to deal with ") Could anybody here from Queensland that has done this in recent times give me a run down on what the process if for getting this through QLD Transport. The vehicle is currently registered.

Thanks Peter
Real Land Rovers have leaf springs and a canvas top

G'day Medic455  :)

I would suggest that you contact Qld transport head office and ask the question on how to return a vehicle which has a non original (but plated)engine to it's original engine type, and printoff their reply, then when you take your 2a in, if you have trouble present the letter, from memory, your vehicle has not had any engine mount to chassis changes so would not require an engineering certificate.

cheers

the definitive answer is

if there have been no modifications to the chassis / firewall / frame etc then you can fit the motor, remove the plate and tick the unmodified box on the rego application form.

if there have been ANY modifications to the chassis / firewall / frame then you will need another blue plate.

did it this week @ caboolture.
