I have two of these wiper motors. I am interested to know more about them. There has been previous discussions about wiper motors but unfortunately they are on the old forum :(
Are they ex army type? Are they sought after? If so, what are they worth?

Standard wiper motors Tommy. Not purely ex-mil.

They were fitted to later ser 1 and 2 & 2a inc army L/R If they are in working condition, I have seen them fetch to $100 each You can still buy them from the UK for about 200 pound ? I would be interested in buying them if you dont want them

Stuart, Do mean with the small box on the side?, these are suppresed wiper motors for use with radio vehicles etc to stop the wiper noise emitting through the radio.

I think you are right Master Chief - it is a noise suppressors as the wiper moter looks to be a standard land rover variety.
As for price - I bought 10 in a box at a swap meet few months back for $60.00 but havent tested them yet as we dont get alot of rain in the Flinders and most time the front window is lying on the spare tyre on the bonnet.......
All the best

That make sense Chief as the windscreen and wiper motors are from a NZ FFR Land Rover.

a lot of the ones with the square box are 24volt units ;)
not sure how you check that

If you clean the main body of the wiper motor you will find some writing stamped, Lucas, model of motor, date and 12v or 24v.

As I said in a previous post I am on my annual pilgrimage to Townsville to catch up with our son and his family, I brought along some home work to do while here. A Lucas wiper motor. As i have about 7 to repair I thought it best to tackle this task while I had nothing else to work on so i grabbed one out of the draw to bring with me The one I grabbed was one I brought off E,bay some time ago that was seized, but had been partly pulled apart and partlyand cleaned to a small degree by the previous owner. This task appears a lot simpler than I first thought. After soaking all the gears over night in a mixture of WD40 and hand cleaner I took to every thing with a 240 wet & dry paper and the gears with a neadle file everything now turns freely and can not wait for the new brushers to arrive hopefully tomorrow to do the finally assembley and test.
I am useing lanolin grease where needed.
