how many vehicles make a troop in an armoured unit
-
A pretty open ended question there.
An APC Troop, a Recon Troop, or perhaps a Tank Troop ?????
-
I think it has varied over the years, but an M113 APC troop use to have 13 and could lift an Infantry Company.
Inf Coy HQ - 1x APC
3x Inf Platoon - 4x APC each (an APC Section) = 12 APC.
I think a Tank Troop has 4x tanks.
Cavalry Troop ... no idea :)
-
It may have chaged after plan beersheba but cav was 5 veh per troop and tanks were 3 never been in an apc troop
-
I seem to remember it also depends on when/what period you are discussing.
Tank Troop, 1960s & 1990s: four: eg
11, Troop leader - Lt or 2Lt
11A Troop Sgt
11B Troop Corporal
11C Corporal

In my day 5 vehicles, 3 LRVs and 2 MRV/FSVs
