Title: Engine not shutting down
Post by: Rob6x6 on January 11, 2019, 06:23:45 PM
Happy New Year to everyone.

I have a shut down problem which has just happened out of the blue with no prior warning,  engine will not shut down when the ignition is turned off.  The only way to shut it down is to push the lever on the injector pump.  It will start ok but won't shut down on the ignition.
Could it be;  (1) Faulty ignition switch?   (2) Faulty Edit motor?
How to fix?
Any ideas greatly appreciated.
Cheers Rob

Hi Rob, sounds like a real aggravation. The EDIC is the shutoff so is it rusted up inside the bag or is the power input (the fuse) blown?

If you were in QLD I'd tell you to fit a bonnet release cable like everyone else whose stop motor had died. Not so simple in states where your vehicle has to be inspected yearly.

Thanks fellas,
I will try and have a play around with the Edic by first taking the bag off and seeing how much rust is evident.
It has power going to it and the fuse is not blown.  You can hear the wirling sound when the ignition is on prior to starting up.
Wonder if the cable might need adjusting up tighter on the injector pump from the Edic
Cheers Rob

G'day Fellas,
Edic motor was ok.
Edic cable was the issue it was corroded and snapped.  New cable and all good.
Cheers Rob
