Post by: Mick_Marsh on June 20, 2018, 10:21:27 PM
What is the make and model number of the cab side marker lenses?

Similar, but the inter cab side lights are half red and half amber

The originals were Hella brand.
Lens was a 2-9800-01.
Oddly, I can't find the clearance lights in the F1 RPS, only in the one for the MK4.

They might fit but I'm not sure they're the same as the ones on my Mk3.

And these are also for the Inters, too:

I'll check my local Repco tomorrow.
Both my side lights are very brittle and show a lot of cracks.
Mine have Hella on them at the top and REG No 47322 on the bottom.
Interestingly, mine appear to be made of orange plastic with one half painted red on the inside. The red is flaking off and I can see the orange plastic underneath.

Mine are 115mm long by 59mm wide at the centre and 29mm deep.

Anyone bought any of the clear lenses in the tail lights? Both of mine are badly crazed and have one end broken off.

I looked at the one here, http://www.aussieedsworldofoldtrucks.com.au/lenses#83032R1 (http://www.aussieedsworldofoldtrucks.com.au/lenses#83032R1), but after speaking to Ed, it turns out they don't fit our Inters. There is no slot for the screw and the curve is wrong.
I am sending the best one of mine to him and he is going to try to get his supplier to make some.

I'll get the side lights from Repco, but I need 2 sets of the red and amber tail lights, 2 rubber dividers and 2 of these clear ones, once they are available. I also need one of the sets of the steering column support rubbers. That's $256.

I checked with the Iveco dealer and none of the part numbers for the tail light lenses or rubber divider are still in the system.

I'll let you all know when the clear lenses are available.

Greg.

The "Mackfire "is the type of lens originally fitted to the Inters It was two colour and the lens was secured by a screw at each end. The sheetmetal guard followed the contour of the lens. The make may have been "Hilite"but can't be certain. These Hella ones are later replacements. The ones used on the trucks at production were widely used on trailers and tankers in their day. They had cork seals and leaked when it rained, and the corrosion would stop the lamp working. The first I A was to rap the lamp guard with a screw driver handle, which usually turned the lamp on. When you finished for the day the lens was removed and the globe contact cleaned and all was well again.

Ah, that explains it then.
I looked it up in the MK4 RPS and it mentioned that the replacement Hella lens didn't require a gasket. I can't even find it in the F1 RPS. It has the rear lights, front lights, indicators and blackout lights, but not the side clearance ones.
I've never seen a MK3 RPS but I'm betting it would list your Hilite as the part maker, instead of Hella (Z0645).
I'll have to look at my MK3 again now, as both lenses have split apart along the line between the red and amber sections. I don't recall seeing a centre screw hole, as seen in my lens above, so it may have the original lenses and bases.
The base on my F1 light has a single brass socket in the centre for the screw to go into, although both screws are missing. Someone wrapped a twist of wire around the internal bracket for the threaded socket, poked it out the hole in the lens, and then wrapped it around a screw on the passenger's side and a nail on the driver's side, and twitched it up to hold it in place. I guess the screws vibrated out.

Just to add to the lense discussion, if you have lenses that the colour is faded but otherwise ok and they are rare ones that are hard to find, you can buy red or orange laquer in small bottles with a brush much the same as nail polish bottles that you use to paint the inside of the lense with and like magic they are new again. It is available from most auto accessories shops. Also if the outside of a plastic lense has dulled you can sometimes get results by polishing them with cutting compound...... sometimes.   Bruce.

After spending some time delving through the early AACO parts books these are most likely the Inter part numbers. Lamp complete 884 782 R91; lens 884 785 R1. It will be interesting to see if Iveco have them.
