For the photoshoot, we need one person to organise and direct who parks where.
They should also wear an orange hi vis so we all know who is directing us.

Mick had some good starting ideas. I am pasting them here:

"I have a few suggestions for a REMLR photo next year :

1. A photo taken either early morning or late afternoon in front of the Australia Hotel ;

2. Maybe in the gardens around Corowa RSL;

3. If possible in the Straight at the race course ( Pic taken with Boxy's drone);

4. Main Street of Rutherglen;

5. A sight within the barracks at Bandiana ; and
6. We allocate some time in a recon of Howlong / Rutherglen / Wangaratta.

Bottom line is if everyone gets their projects completed, find drivers and are committed for the week we can achieve a photo to remember and enjoy many many times.
I think it's great we're starting the conversation early and we don't put a line thru any idea.  No idea considered too hard, stupid, or other."

The RSL and Bandiana carparks are good and spacey. There is also a local at Rutherglen with a Series 2A FFT in good order. New member but could not manage the web system. I met him at the swap, and he may have some local knowledge about a property.

Just a thought, not everyone would participate in 'another' run to Bnadiana, and as you are trying to get as many as possible in the photo shoot, then why not keep it local to Corowa, cheers Dennis :)

Also don't forget the convoy idea, another paste from Mick:

"We could RV Melbourne on Monday around lunchtime then over night at Yea, pushing thru to Rutherglen on the Tuesday. It would be a scenic , leisurely , drive. It would be a lot of fun."

The convoy would need plenty of uhf channel 10, its gold.
The convoy would need a series of pre-planned stops where stragglers could join up/catch up.

The initial formup could be on M80 fwy, the western side ring road, north of the calder fwy or road that heads to ballarrat. At a service centre/truckstop of course. Is there one there? Other ideas?

If others from else where did want to get on board as Carzee suggested , I think a RV on the Ballarat Rd , another in bound on the Hume and a final RV for all the vehicles to marry up in the east side of Melbourne heading to Yea would be the go. Or those coming from the North RVing at Yea would also work well.
The road from Mansfield to Whitfield is a really enjoyable drive.

Your right about the photo location Dennis , local is best however if we make the location well known and with plenty of notice I'm sure people interested will work to it.

The bridge pic is terrific but a real land mark location for the 70th yr would be better.

I also think Blighty has the potential to be our  (REMLR) spiritual home. The publican really enjoyed it as did some of the locals.
Cheers,

Mick

Aye, all ideally would have UHF in some form.  From my experience in a 4wd club you need a designated TL & TEC too. Without proper convoy procedures it's like hearding cats. This might seem over organising for some but it all makes it work with a minimum of fuss.

Best route for us western district people is,

Ballarat
Daylesford
Kyneton
Tooborac
Seymour
Yea
Mansfield
Whitfield
Etc

No need or desire to go right into Melbourne, that ring road is torture and mostly a car park.

From Whitfield we can get across to Greta and check out Ned Kelly's house, when I lived in Wang I used to know where it was, it was just a ruin, but now I believe it's been restored.

Cheers
Scott

So Seymour (although handy to the freeway and converging of all routes) might be a bit too "corporate" for a collection of mil vehs to loiter in the main st? Yea has a nice Caravan Park with unpowered sites by the river.

Yeah, I reckon all groups RV at Yea Monday Evening and push on from there.

Yep Yea is good.

Although we'd stop at the national Vietnam memorial in Seymour for photo opportunity!

Sounds good for us Macedon Ranges people as well Scott, it took me a good hour and a half to get from home to Ringwood this year. Peak hour traffic etc.

Kyneton sounds much better!

Cheers,

Mike.

Here is a ideas map -I had to look up where Yea was.

The route from Mansfield you've chosen Ross goes via the Midland Hwy onto the Hume. Whitfield is in further east and sounds like the preferred one.

I'll pick up the convoy when it reaches home.

Good to hear your back on net Geoff,

The ferret will be a great convoy escort vehicle. Hope you can bring it along 😊👍

But the Ferret is a Daimler not a Rover!

Fine if it was the year of the British vehicle but Geoff's first priority should be the series 3.

As for the year itself, like a lot of people I'm going to need extra people to bring down my vehicles, I may even have to co-opt members of the LROC. but my problems would pale into insignificance against DennisM.

So many vehicles, so few drivers..................

(At least people willing to drive an old Landrover to Corowa.)

What did you have in mind, a road shot of a moving convoy, parking space for a static shot?

I was thinking a shot of the convoy - preferably a on a snaking rd with a mountain background and a stationary form up with a view of the mountains .

I'm sure whatever you come up with will nail it.

I think we're planning to RV with the boys from Western Victoria at Yea Monday / Tuesday Evening then onto Mansfeild the following morning so there around smoko time.

Over to you blue leader 😊👍

sorry been off the air a while. I'll look into it and report back. Do we know how many trucks approximately will be in the convoy?

Hi guys,
I also read about the idea of a convoy coming up from Victoria, but as editor of KVE News, I can assure you it was not in there! I think it was in this forum that I read about it.

Hi Everyone,

Richards right, basic concept of operations was those interested coming from Western Victoria and Melbourne areas would RV in Yea Monday Evening then head to Corowa Tuesday morning via Mansfield, Whitfield, Moyu, and Wangaratta before pushing thru to Corowa.

Stopping for a couple of photo's en route.

Anyone interested, let us know and we'll get it happening.

Cheers,

Mick

Nah I'm coming up Tuesday morning and taking the quickest route possible, so I can set up camp and then put my feet up and relax! (ie open a stubby and stare at my Land Rover for hours on end without moving or saying anything, showing no external emotional expression but going internally berserk!) Lol

Depending what the departure time from Yea was I'm keen to join in the morning its only about hour and a half from me and saves unpacking.
