Title: What does 'Reputation' mean??

It's on each post I make on this forum, like a glowering Headmaster watching and scoring how I perform at each test.....

Well, in my ignorance, the mind does suggest strange meanings for the little word 'Reputation' followed by a 'score'.

So what does it REALLY mean???

Just below the reputation button is a thanks button.

You click on the thanks button, and that person gets 1 reputation point.  A lot of forums have something similar inbuilt.
