Guys not new to this forum, but it has been a while -
Bought a 2a back in 2008 with the help of fellow member dolphint, and started with great enthusiasm sand blasting and etch priming everything I could dismantle in an attempt to emulate the Great Dennis M.
Part way though we built a house and it got put on the back burner, but a lot of progress had been made, and now the re-assembly can commence. Having not dissembled it in the first place, I did not have a lot of confidence in putting it back together, but a mate who specialises in mini's normally wasnt scared off, and has started the re-build.
just to recap, this was the original post on Aulro:
After a long time looking, I owe a big thanks to fellow member Steve (aka Dolphint) for directing me to my new purchase being a 1971 IIa as attached.
As Steve had told me, the guy bought this car in the 80's to restore and got down to the chassis and gave up.
Very enthusiastic, but since getting it home, am a little daunted by all the small pieces piled up in the tub.
Phoenix, the chassis number is 25334817G.
As you can see, didn't know what to expect, so took 2 tandems, and with the restrictor plates still in place on my stage 1, it was struggling enough just with the empty trailer, and so fortunately my well heeled mate was there to lend a hand.
Expect many questions over a long and drawn out period.
Thanks again Steve - the AULRO grapevine is alive and well.

Hi Sam,
Good Luck mate, it`ll be worth the pain I`m sure. FYI the Tac Plates are the 3rd Training Group located at Watsonia Barracks and Puckapunyal Victoria in ithe day.

Had the wheels sandblasted and powdercoated I was told the correct Olive Drab the bloke happened to have on the shelf from another job. looked pretty close to me, and at this stage after 13 years the focus is on moving forward!
Not sure if this link will work as would not let me post the image

In the mean time, the firewall had been stripped sand blasted, metal etched POR 15 and resprayed.
Having spend the previous 30 years in the dry shed in Sunbury was in excellent nick and no repairs needed

Once they're made small, making them bigger is pointless.
Best thing is to not make them small in the first place.
Why do you want them bigger? Who's photographs are they? Yours? If yes, do you still have the originals?
-
Thanks Mick, yeah realised that was the size Bruce sent me - just thought bigger would be easier to see, but will just make sure the originals are bigger now.
Thanks mate

Looking good there,
Always great to see another Series 2A coming back to life.
Is it still in Sunbury, I’m just up the road in the Macedon Ranges.
-
Hi Mike - down in Beaumaris now - well part of it - and the Yarra Valley the rest.
Yes cant wait to get it back on the road now.
Thanks mate
