Howdy, when I got my car a few ‘spares’ were with her on the drivers door was a logo of a missile with crossed swords and 110 below. Wondering if these markings were worn by the car I have. Cheers, Garry.

The odds are yes it would have had it on the drivers door. Signifies the 110th Air Defence Battery which operated the Rapier Missile system.

My 101 the day I picked it up - note the insignia on the door.

Thanks again fc101, would the marking only have been on the drivers door? I hope to get down to the Land Rover Expo, if it happens due to current situation and work commitments allowing, but before that happens I hope to repaint the old girl, it was last done in a fairly high gloss 'olive drab'. It just looks wrong, my previous car was less than 2 years out of army and it was still the matt camo but the yellow roundel was painted on not riveted as you suggested before, about 1/4 of it had lifted off. I'll mention again... current car is 96200041A ARN was 29-421, haven't seen any pics of her. Thanks again, cheers.

The logo would have been on both the drivers and passenger doors.

Hi Mick, are you sure? I have checked all my in-service photos of 101s and none have the insignia on the passenger door and this includes pics of the line up of vehicles being sold off. My 101 had it on the drivers door but not my passenger door - the only one I have found with it on the passenger door is on a post service pic of a modified 101.
Cheers
Garry

Howdy Mick and Garry, thought I’d double check before I shot my mouth off. Just got around checking what I presume is my cars original passenger door.... on it I found faint evidence that there were markings on that door as well, looking carefully there are faint traces, can see the tip of the missile and faintly make out 110 at the bottom, the rest of it has gone with the layers of paint. Cheers gazpa aka Garry.
