Hello All,
This is probably goes down as a dumb question... Did the 4x4 International C1300 trucks have a transfer box? Or was it one integrated unit?
I just came across a vehicle on the interwebby and it mentions that the engine is not included but the gearbox is. No close up photographs of the gearbox and I there are interior photographs of the cabin.
The last time I was in one of the 4x4 it was a van way back in the 1970s when I was in primary school.
I am just concerned that when one of these come available . . . . and I have enough spare cash . . . . that I miss out buying the essential part that makes these vehicles capable of four wheel drive.
Are the parts for the transfer case still available? Are they a Dana unit?
Kind regards
Lionel

From memory the C1300s were 4x2 so were CLs rather than GS therefore no transfer case. I think that domestic transport platoons like 390 at Ingleburn had them. The 4x4s were AB series as far as I can recall.

The C1300,and all the rest of the 4x4s have a transfer case separate to the gearbox..Common one is the New Process 205...the 1400s had a heavier(slightly) duty unit ,New Process 206.

My knowledge of normal control Inters is pretty basic. However I would like to know why a relatively small truck which does not have four wheel drive would require a transfer case. I am not trying to be clever I am just interested.

No worries it is just that in my time of snooping around such places as 2 BOD and 2 Base workshops I never came across a 4 X 4 C1300. That was 1970/71.
