Gary - do you know what the exhaust manifolds are off?  It is interesting that the passenger side fits down between the engine and chassis.  Can you put up some more pics of the passenger side manifolds from the top side and bottom and how it navigates around the power take off for the winch.

Cheers

Garry

Thanks for that - the reason I ask is that I have a 4.6 in my 101 now and still have the 3.5 carbs and exhausts and will need to upgrade.

I have a set of Range Rover P38 4.6 exhaust headers and the drivers side will go on with ease but as you know the passenger side is pretty tight and the P38 manifolds will not fit in and the exhaust pipe is a lot bigger diameter than the 3.5 and will have trouble getting over the winch PTO.  I was going to get the P38 manifold modified to fit but then I saw your 4.4 setup.  A friend has a 4.6 in his 101 and has the 4.0 manifold on the drivers side but the old 3.5 manifold on the passenger - works OK but is not optimal.

I guess yours may have originally been extractors that have been made to fit.  I have taken copies of your pics so that when it is time to fix mine I can see how yours was done.

Thanks

Garry (spelt the proper way)

I see 101 parts (able engineering) is advertising new stainless steel headers for sale on their site.  how have you found the drivability difference between the two motors.

You can notice the increase in torque but the changeover is not complete so no really ran it much.  Still need to replace the carbs with the injection system, the engine has no distributor so is running at a fixed 10 BTDC so is not good revving out plus the exhaust needs doing.

I haven't seen those headers but most likely they will be for a 3.5 so a bit small for the 4.6 - the P38 exhaust is a larger diameter.

Cheers
