Not a fantastic pic, but if someone does acquire this Landrover they can now know it went overseas.
Deployed 145 Sig Sqn East Timor 1999

Wonderful Sig pic, love the pineapple. :)
-
I was expecting the pineapple might be noticed! I obscured the operators identity as not in contact with him these days.

Steve Botcher was OC of 145 then wasn't he ?
Cheers.

G,day ECN405.
I have been reading the forum for over twelve months and managed to purchase 200211 in January this year from Minto, the log book had no mention of any service outside of Australia. 'Maybe the plate just did the trip'.
Anyway, thanks for the photo.
Cheers.

Hello Eight4,
I can promise you more than just the plate went overseas, I drove that vehicle myself. Think I took that one up into the hills above Dili for an explore. I'll see if I have other pics, problem is that now I look at past pics, no one much thought of including the plates!
As for service in the log books, I have an FFR from 3CSR and it makes no mention of it going overseas, but I'd expect it probably did. They did a good few o/s trips.
I am not sure if this was the case for all tgm120's, but I dont remember anyone much bothering to complete the logbooks apart from min servicing info. My FFR has a different engine no. to what it was delivered with and the tgm120 makes no mention of that swap in it.
However, worth noting we took pretty good care of them.
Further to the story on 200211, when 145 Sig went to Timor in 1999, the unit drove from Holsworthy, Sydney to Darwin, the full unit drove, so it would have too. The entire unit then went from Darwin via Herc C130's to Dili on a mix of American C-130's and Australian one's. So your 110 has flown too.
Also, no one took the plates off, you would have received a good ass kicking for that.
Cheers

Its overseas service would not be in the log book in most cases as these books only state what work it has had done to it not where it was done, you are lucky that thanks to this forum you know a little more about your Landrover, best of luck with it in the future.
****Edit****ECN405 posted his reply while I was still typing but were are on the same page. :D

A name I have not heard for a while, you would be correct I reckon!
Did you have the joy of being there?

Hi Boys,
My comment about the plate going, was only a joke. All good.
I do appreciate the info and if you locate any more, would love to see them.
Cheers.

Nah, my ex was pregnant at the time, with a few issues. I got pulled out of 142 as cadre staff and drafted into HQAST when it went to OLOC manning. I set up & ran (with others) the Theatre Communications Management Group. I was in daily contact with 145, 103, 1 Sig & 1 CCS Ops.
I was the Medium Radio Tp Comd in 145 during 92-93, then OPSO 96-97.
Cheers.

Well we may have crossed paths then, I was a newbie at LFSU before it relocated and became 145. I was in tech maint 96/97
-
Yep, I think so. The FOZ was the WO2 in tech maint (funny man lol ) I was Custodian, so I had to duck in there from time to time and check on the CEA.
I actually got posted into 145 (LFSU) late '95, so I did that big convoy from Simpson Bks to Holsworthy.... 90 odd vehicles if my memory is corrrect. I drew the short straw and got an overloaded FFL to drive.... very top heavy.
Do you remember Ash Bennett ? We worked together last year on the Parakeet replacement project.
Cheers.

Yes, I remember Ash (a fellow south aussie) went to his wedding many many years ago! Small world.
Start of 2000 I was posted out of 145 Sig to a RAAF Base and lost touch with him.
