Can any tell me what is the correct name for this type of washer and where can they be obtained . I have tried near and far in SEQ but to no advail.

It's a Thackray washer - they are used extensively on the Champ.
Can't help with a source.

Even a blonde can find this stuff Hodgo ;D This is what it is...a double helical spring washer, the mob below supply but it seems have none in stock.

Google search should find some but you may have to order out of the country maybe

G'day Cliff, Also called Thackery washer using different spelling.
Maybe at a GOOD nut and bolt place if you can find one.

Been all over Brisbane No luck . the attached web sigth that has them is out of stock.

Cliff, may also depend on what you wish them for.
My experience with a Thackery washer is to allow sideways "floating type" movement of the valve rockers on a rocker shaft on the top of old Triumph m/bike motors.
If, on the other hand you want a complete lockup you might be better with a good quality spring washer with flat washers on both sides.

Funnily enough I actually found one of these in the mechanism that opens the vents on the firewall of my S2 just this week ;D

Hi Hodgo,
my experience with these washers are that they are used when mounting Weber DCOE carburetters.
When tightened correctly they are NOT coil bound and thus reduce vibrations from being transmitted.
