Title: Driven trailers
Post by: Mick_Marsh on April 08, 2017, 05:53:20 PM
Saw a Crump and Cornish trailer that had been converted to a driven trailer at Bandiana.

Now, I recently heard of a farmer who had a driven trailer. He (not the farmer) tells me he (the farmer) used it behind his (the farmer) Inter.

So, my questions are, what driven trailers are out there? What vehicles were they designed for? Were any made for the Inter?

Here you go Mr Marsh

I thought they had them for 101s when used as gun tractors

There was also the Scottorn Bushmaster which were trialled on the 101 at the same time as the Rubery Owen, the Scottorn were also available for the regular series Rover and used a transfer case on the rear cross member.

One turned up lately (See pic below) and I wonder if this is the trailer that arrived in Australia in 1974 with a prototype SIII 1 Ton.

BTW: An interesting factoid, Rubery Owen is/was part of the same international conglomerate as Rubery Owen and Kemsley (ROK) Australia which became Rubery Owen Holdings (ROH) in Australia. Anyone who has owned an Aussie built Landy will recognise the initials on their wheels.

I'm told the driven trailer looks like the ones behind the 101 in the Rubery Owen link above.
The Inter had a dolly hooked up and dragged trailers around loading hay bales IIRC.

The trailers for the 101 and those for the Series and Range Rover were each a little different to accommodate for the differing track widths.

You also have to understand that the 101 in the earlier link to 4WDonline was actually a prototype 101 so the trailer is likely one of the prototype trailers as well.  It was last spotted unregistered parked on a street in Cairns, but luckily still with its trailer.
