Hi,
I thought I would go to the Dookie Military Vehicle Rally on Oct 13 and 14. Any other REMLR people thinking of going?
Dookie is in Nth East Vic.
I have a flyer if anyone interested, PM me and I can email it.
or contact dookieemporium@bigpond.com
I have no interests in this rally just thought it would be good to go
Cheers

Might be good to go in convoy if anyone else is diving up the hwy
Cheers

Scott I will be going, but I'm only 30 minutes away in Wangaratta. Don't know if my inter will be registered with club plates by then. I could permit it, but we'll see how we go.
Will be good to put names to faces.
Cheers

I'll have to check my "whats on list" and see if I can do the Sunday.

Alien not sure where you got the flyer but that's last years. It is the 3rd rally and running on October the 13th and 14th. Not the dates on the flyer.
Cheers

Did the ADF have IIB's?
The ADE Testing Establishment tested at least 1 six cyl SIIB and a four cyl and six cyl SIIa F/C.
Glen ZuluDelta534 was on the tropical trials of one of the six cyl, but they never went into service.
So could that have been one of them or a mock up?

The guy that owns it said it was RAF, had been in Malaysia then sold off and used privately and finally imported to Aust in the 80's then he bought it after that. The Green is not original it should be a light blue/grey colour.

Unfortunately at this time we do not have the chassis numbers of the FC vehicles that the army trialled :(
-
White mudflaps, white cross member, usually a military thing only, so I would sway with yes ex something...
-
The only part that resembles anything of an Australian military vehicle may possibly be the colour of the vent flap.
The rest is quite imaginative.
The ones we had on trials (which I am lead to believe were still under the books of Land Rover rather than the Army) were 2as rather than 2Bs and had the headlights higher and closer, Park lights and indicators were further apart, so much so that there was room for the Tac signs to be mounted between the parkers and indicators. There is always a chance that perhaps the RAAF bought one or two for some obscure reason (they did buy FC Jeeps, so one can only wonder) but the Army never had any in the GS fleet at least. If that were the case there would be a lot more tell tale signs and holes around the frontal area, rather than some white paint and some light buckets swiped from a 6005 or 6028 to show.
There is still a chance that the Government may have once owned it, as the PMG, as it was in those days, ended up with some bright red ones I believe, and DCA had some pretty yellow ones.

Well for starters, theres 2a and 2b here, so did they evaluate both> and if so why,
-
Interesting shots Diana, Same vehicle but they look like they were taken when the vehicle was still being tested at Maribyrnong and Monegeeta, although the palm and fern tree in shots 3 & 4 look a bit out of place.
When we took it north it had had a brush guard fitted (adapted from a 2a) , the long stemmed left hand mirror had been changed for a short stemmed one and the 973 Tac sign of ADE was swapped for an Army HQ one, and moved to the brush bar. Probably more differences but that will do for the time being. The trials of these vehicles were rather inconclusive all round, as later in the day history shows that the Army was still experimenting with the Ford and International versions of 1 tonners. None of these vehicles were accepted in the long run and the 1 ton format was completely bypassed.

Interesting that the ARN is the same.

I musr add all of this info on the FC trials to one page on the website!!
Diana, what document are those photos from?
-
They are photos sent to me by Ian Patrick, I believe he accessed them from the original trials reports, I asked for a copy of the report but I don't think Ian has had time to access the volume again.
Speaking of which.... it must be time to visist the library and borrow that trials report again :P
