I posted this in aulro, but got no resonse to date.
Can anyone here help?
I'm a little old school perhaps, but I'm after some advice on using selcal.
Up until a few months ago, I was a happy outpost radio user (very rarely!) but have now gone over the VKS737 with a Codan unit with selcal.
I'm used to just finding a frequency and using the mike. - I know, old school, BUT I CAN CHANGE!!!!!!
As my "mobile" number is my selcal number with VKS, I take it I set that number in the 4 digit number thingy on the control head????
I then press the "selcal mute" button to send the signal?
This is the bit I'm not clear on.
Like I said, I might be a dinosaur, but considering I hardly ever use it, I just wanted to understand what I now need to do, so treat me gently

Happy to help.
First up you do nt need to use selcall at all, just do as you did previously and press the transmit button.
However selcall can be useful so let's sort that out for you. For a starter can you please let me know the brand and model of radio you use. It is probably best if we continue this discussion off the forum so perhaps you can reply by a PM.

Howard.
Thanks for the response.
It is either an 8225B or 9360 - hard to find as it's painted all over green and currently burried under a heap of gear.
Lets take this to PM's, but no hurry - at 7am tomorrow morning, I'm off into the mulga in the northern flinders ranges for 4 days. That means no phone, no internet, no nothing other than UHF CB with the stations, and the HF set.
I'm back next week, so will contact you when I get back.
Thanks again.
