Title: Committee Positions Vacant?
Post by: Tommy on August 20, 2012, 07:40:17 PM
Just a quick question...

The REMLR website states that the positions of Public Officer and Membership Officer are vacant. Is this correct?

I believe they were filled.
Diana and Scott if I remember right.

Thanks Mick. I had a feeling Diana was the new Public Officer but could not confirm this anywhere on REMLR website or the forum.

It may be prudent to have a Committee 'sticky thread' outlining current positions, changes and general news. The 'Whats it Worth' matter and new Forum Rules and Policies can be announced to members within this thread and updated as things progress. The thread could be locked with posting by Committee members only. I'm sure members would be interested in the Committees activities.

Thanks correct Mick.

Tommy, if you go the "Registry of Ex Military Land Rovers Inc news" Thread in this section (its a sticky) and scroll down a few posts, Pheonix has listed the current committee members.

Cheers
Scott

Thanks Scott :).

Post #59 of a total of 71. Such an important matter buried in a plethora of thread posts. A new member to this forum would struggle to put his/her finger on this information.

I think there are grounds for this information to be placed in it's own thread. This information is central to an Incorporated body. Maybe a simple 'REMLR Committee' sticky with the Committee information as Richard posted in "Registry of Ex Military Land Rovers Inc news" post #59. If there is any future news in relation to the Committee and it's members, it can be posted there. The "Registry of Ex Military Land Rovers Inc news" thread could be reserved for general Incorporation news.

What do others think?

Richard will need to update the REMLR website Committee information.

Yep sounds logical, I will revert to the committee for discussion.

I noticed yesterday when the question of committee members was asked that the website was not up to date after the positions were filled.  But i've not had time to correct it yet.

The forum is a place for discussion, not the positioning of importaint information such as the committee members.  It also doubles up the time it takes for me to update things, hence why it is on the website (which many registrants and members check than the forum in the case of many)

It doesn't matter how many times you say this Phoenix, someone will always ask  ;) Why not delegate out some of the forum work to the other mods. It's not that hard to do, and will save you having to do it all yourself all the time

True, true, but then that's not my choice to make is it ;)

Hi Committee   ;)

How's this for a thought. Make a sticky/locked post for the REMLR Committee details, then place a link in it to the REMLR page where it is described.

The same sort of thing could be done for other key information... such as the constitution, financial statements or minutes of committee meetings.

If set up correctly it should be low maintenance :)

I just gave you your first thank for such a good idea.

Scott made the following statement in a previous post (reply #5) - Yep sounds logical, I will revert to the committee for discussion.

Let the Committee discuss this matter before you jump in and condemn it. Maybe the Committee has a difference of opinion to your own personal view. As I have stated before in another thread, individual Committee members, including the President, cannot make these types of decisions without the prior approval of the Committee. It may be that the Committee rejects the idea of a 'stand alone' REMLR Committee thread. If so, you can announce their decision and we will abide by it. In the mean time, let the Committee do their job. As stated in the NSW Incorporations Act of 2010 "the Committee is to control and manage the affairs of the association".

If you are finding the workload of REMLR Inc and the forum a little too much to handle, delegate duties to other members. There is a growing perception that REMLR is a 'one man band'. I have no doubt that there would be a number of capable persons willing to help you out. As Pat says, share the load.

I'm not used to acting as a president of anything, but that was my opinion, not that of the committee.  what actually happens is the comittee's decision.  not just mine of course.
