What are the ranges of various military radios and installations?

Yeah Mick, about 5-8 klms with the 77Set depending on terrain or antennae used.
Is that helpful ?
;) ;D ;D

It's all helpful.
Is there much difference in range when you compare the car mounted antenna to the back pack antenna?
-
For VHF/UHF: If you assume veh (a) and veh (b) antenna height is 2m and they are both at the same height above sea level, then the theoretical max range is 12km.... This is the line of site.
In practice this is further reduced with path loss and db loss in coax cables and connectors. Something closer to 10km would be more common.

Pete
