yes, there is an offline archive of photos. But the best ones are generally online on REMLR when I have had the time to do so, or waiting to be put online. And whenever somebody wants some, like the post your pics threads and things liek that I always dig out what I can as well.

No worries Juddy, The couple of pics of the, what appears to be a civvy fire tender, I hadnt seen before, very interesting. its a 71 model, tender body is similar to the Army ones. of interest is the sill panels, 71 should have the narrow type, these are the early wide type.
Just re read it and noticed it was shown in 1970, so must be a changeover model, would explain the sill panels.

These type of comments do nothing for the confidence of those who make the effort and take the time to post images. I for one have not seen the first and fire tender photos before.
This photo is fascinating. I have seen this photo a number of times but had not noticed the use of the airlift ring to raise the Land Rover. Interestingly, the RPS book describes these rings as - lifting and towing rings. I'm curious to know what keeps the bar from sliding sideways and out of the ring.

Nothing probably stops the bar moving sideways I suspect, but I think it may have only been there to lift on to the dolly. Mind you, it may be that hte concept did not work well, hence the concept was not used later on!
I hope my comment wasn't taken out of context, I didn't realise that Juddy didn't know that they were on REMLR. It was intended a little tounge in cheek, but it seems that went down like a lead baloon, and missed the mark somewhat!

The lift bar has tapered ends,so one would slide it into the "D" one side then into the opposite "D", the weight and tow driver skill would have kept it in place,the tow dolly was later modified and became a much larger and selfcontained unit in which the towed vehicle had the front wheels removed and bolted to the dolly, there should be pics of this dolly on file, that were taken at a swap display several years ago, the later dolly allowed the towing vehicle to be a GS or any other varient of the same pintle hook height.

It would also be interesting as to what sort of motor that is on the back of 110-748
and that the motor has stands under it, obviosley a posed photo

I think you will find that what looks like engine stands are in fact stabiliser legs suspended from the rear cross member of the vehicle and used to stabilise the rear of the vehicle when lifting. (see later photograph of 110 669)

It was built for the Northern Territory Fire Brigade - and built by Alexander Perrie (same contractor which built the IIA Army Fire Tenders).

Nice 106 Recoilless Rifle photo exiting a Chinook, and a S3 with 30 cal. pintle mount over crew area. Gunbuggy about 1982 and S3 on exercise near stawell, not sure of date. BFA attached to 30 cal.

That S3 is well beyond any standard fit.
Tyres on the bumper, roll hoop, 30 cal.
At a guess, I would say that it was a RAAF unit used by the ADG's. Quick Response Force I think they called them or some such, QRF ?? I've seen similarly modified 110's that got replaced by RFSV when such modifications were banned.

It is or was a unit fit (The Armoured unit I was in at Albury. Only a handful were done and we used them on an Exercise in Western Vic. If i remember correctly i took the photo at Dadswell Bridge near Stawell. I got into trouble, we were not to go over bridge into enemy positions. But me in my madness and the Sargent did not say anything as i tucked in behind a civilian transport truck proceeded over bridge big sliding drift to the left and the crew commander let rip with the 30 cal. The 77 set blurted and is was told to extract myself and get front and centre for a dress down. BLOODY GOOD FUN.

Do not know. That is the one that runs or ran to Sydney from down south. Pic taken Early 80's at Wagga i think.
