Dug around the old REMLR CDROM from 12 to 14 years back and found a photo sent in by Rob Barker who had a set of experimental tyres on his 2A -just to try out- and he was in vicinity of Melbourne.

The pic used to be in Rob's pic set:

Yes they will be the set from Toolern Vale, I am aware Rob tried them once, and I mean Once!

there was only every one set made, as far as I am aware.

Great Photo,

would be good to see them donated to the Bandianna museum..........

Why would you waste your time donating anything to the Army History Unit.  They consider the collections only as training aids for current students of the Corps Schools and that they have no responsibility to the Australian Public.  If it were me I send it to a  museum who will value it and not controlled by the AHU like some of the Regimental Museums (not part of the AHU like the 1/15 RNSWL) or civilian ones such as the Nat Military Vehicle Museum (or what ever its called) in South Australia.

Seeing that the inclusion of the wheels with the trailers raised the bidding to pretty much exactly the same bid amounts the trailers would have fetched in Brisbane or Sydney, their value could be close to zero.

I'm sure there will be an Adventurous soul out there that will want to get these five
wheels back together just so they can go for a strap on the local Freeway.
Who's got the rest I wonder.

Well put Diana!! From what I have seen the Museums are only interested ind replicas anything that is an artifact gets destroyed and put in a warehouse and forgotten about.
