Title: 110 Clutch pedal assist spring.
Post by: circlework on April 19, 2016, 10:57:33 AM
Has anyone tried anything like this?    It's a 'Clutch Pedal Assist Kit'.   Apparently this is fitted to later model Defenders and will also fit 110s.
Personally, I would have thought it might wear the thrust race a tad.
Any comments greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

My "Defentie" has this setup as you might expect. It is noticeably a nicer clutch to use than other Perenties I've driven with HD clutches, I'd say it's about the same as the regular non-HD Perentie clutch feel.

I can't speak for the wear, I've never had a problem with it (and it's nearly 20 years old).

Thanks Dervish.
If it wasn't so much effort to replace the clutch, I'd give it a go, not that I find my clutch overly heavy, but then again, I live in the sticks, so frequency of operation isn't a problem.

I tried to do this a while back. Discovered that My Perentie does not have the correct clutch tower to attach the spring.
In order to fit that spring, you'll need to have a real close look at the tower the clutch pedal goes in (that bolts to the firewall)
If you're lucky you'll find the place on the box and the notch in the pedal to allow it to fit.
I suspect however, you'll need to get a newer pedal and pedal tower off a defender to fit it.
